Schiphol Airport

In collaboration with the Dutch designers at ISOSS, Agglotech provided the company’s Venetian terrazzo for the refurbishment of the main airport in the Netherlands, Schiphol Airport. Completely custom made and finished, Agglotech’s terrazzo was used for many special features, including a table in the lobby and all waiting and food-service areas, as well as seats, tables, and benches located throughout the airport.

The project
Agglotech designed and produced custom colors for a terrazzo that would be suited to the airport’s open concept and in line with the instructions of the client and of the architectural studio.
For the seats, benches and tables in many areas of the airport, a very light-colored terrazzo with contrasting dark marble chips was selected. This elegant color paired well with the various settings in which it was used, complementing the dark flooring of the food-service area and the all-white flooring of the waiting areas and corridors.
With the other custom color, a dark green, two large tables were made, which feature a unique, white finish for the tabletops. This completely handcrafted product features curved geometries that only Agglotech and the company’s partners in Italy are able to achieve.
Terrazzo proved to be ideally suited to the project’s needs, as it is a resistant, easy-to-clean material that can also be highly customized in both color and shape.
