Pozza di Fassa secondary school in the heart of the Dolomites
Trento, Italy
Agglotech’s Venetian terrazzo was a featured contribution to construction of the newly erected G. Soraperra secondary school, in Pozza di Fassa, an art school built to the highest architectural standards. Agglotech provided a personalized color of terrazzo, Custom REG1271, a variation of our traditional marble-cement terrazzo but with aggregate of dolomite stone in place of the marble chips typically used.

The project
Agglotech designed and produced a fully custom material for the flooring, for the stairs, and for a large part of the interior and exterior cladding of this art school in Pozza di Fassa, a town in the heart of the Italian Dolomites. The project involved a collaboration with Sevis S.r.l., which provided the special dolomite stone extracted directly from the company’s quarries and started the mixing process. The selection of this particular Venetian terrazzo has lent greater light, elegance and modernity to the building, thanks to the harmony of light color tones used to exalt the gray hues of the dolomite stone. As its name implies, this stone comes from the Dolomite mountain range and features very delicate colors ranging from pink to gray. Cutting-edge technology was used to agglomerate the dolomite stone with cement to create a custom-designed Venetian seminato to meet the needs of the customer, while also providing a highly resistant, durable surface. This terrazzo was also provided with two different finishes. For the exterior cladding and for the stairs, the terrazzo features a bush-hammered finish, whereas a honed finish was used for the interior cladding and flooring. The bush-hammered finish also plays an important role in terms of safety. Because it meets the R11 slip-prevention standard, it is particularly suited for use as exterior flooring.
