Berlin State Opera
Berlin, Germany
At the Berlin State Opera, which underwent a major refurbishment from 2010 to 2017, we once again find Agglotech terrazzo — in a color custom designed specifically for this project — used for the opera house’s flooring and stairs.

The project
Having been refurbished on multiple occasions over the years, in part to repair damage caused by bombings during World War II, the Berlin State Opera is undoubtedly a historical landmark for the city. For the most recent restoration, from 2010 to 2017, Agglotech was called upon to provide the Venetian terrazzo for the opera house’s flooring and stairs. The material provided features both undisputed durability and remarkable beauty, thanks in part to the color designed to customer specifications: a brick-red with medium-chip marble aggregate. Also of note are the ecological benefits of this material, given that Agglotech terrazzo is made from all-natural elements (namely water, Portland cement, and marble aggregate).
